They’re called the Naked Staches, and they’re here to rock Movember. Brought together by fate (and coincidentally all on the creative team at Naked Creative) these eight men and three women have successfully raised over $1,400 for prostate cancer research. Sitting down with Naeem Ghafari, the “Persian Rug”, he explained why teaming up together has helped them bring in mo’ sponsors for the cause.

“Naked Staches just started with a bunch of us sitting around and talking about Movember at work”, Naeem states. “Some of us had participated individually in the past, but never as team. So we thought rather than do it alone, why not combine the power of our staches to raise money and get a few laughs.”

Pony: But why should we support your team, specifically?

“We’d be okay with someone supporting another Movember team. Early on, we said to ourselves that we wouldn’t want to spam our friends with the site or try to get too competitive with other teams. Sure, there’s some healthy competition happening between the team members. But with the site, we’re hoping that people find the content entertaining and funny enough to want to donate without us being too aggressive in our efforts to raise money”.

Pony: Are you hitting up the Movember party at Guvernment?

“Yes, absolutely. We’ve never been, so we’re pretty pumped!”

Pony: Is anyone on your team struggling to grow a stache?

“Besides the girls, yes, there are a few (who shall remain nameless). Really, it’s pretty obvious to see who’s struggling when you visit the site — but that doesn’t mean it’s stopped them from raising money. Besides, Christina’s been killing it with her creative stache photos!”

Pony: Lastly, why should people partake in Movember? Besides the obvious good cause.

“It’s just a really fun thing to do. It creates this weird combination of camaraderie and competition with everyone taking part.”

With 80′s funk music playing, dancers swinging from the ceiling, and oh yea, a sea of mustaches, The Movember party last night at the Guvernment was beyond amazing. It was all for a good cause though, as Canada ended up raising about $5.5 million for prostate cancer research. Awards were given, staches were praised, and drinks were had. Here are some photos from the night (our head cowgirl went as Charlie Chaplin), we hope you enjoy!

For those that haven’t caught on yet, here’s how Movember works: start the month clean shaven, then grow your sexy stache throughout November without so much as a trim (all while getting donations towards prostate cancer research). When December hits, you can ‘mo the lawn’ so to speak and go back to your normal life. This Australian tradition (as of 2003) has gotten the entire globe mad for mustaches  – with us hockey-playing Canadians soaking up every stache-second we can.

The “Mo Bros” as we like to be called, also dress up as various famous celebrities in order to match our stache to a style (Tom Selleck, Ghandi, Ron Burgundy etc.). The winner is ultimately titled the “Man of Movember”. But seeing as Movember is nearing an end, here is our tribute to some of the best Mo’s we’ve seen over the years:
