Two weeks ago, the Cowboys had the opportunity to wake up at 5:30 am on a Saturday and spend some quality time in a cold building with shit all over the ground. Why sleep in on the weekend when you could be doing that? We’ll explain. “The County”, as the locals call it, has in the last few years become a huge attraction for Torontonians looking for an alternative to Muskoka. With countless wineries and breathtaking views of Lake Ontario, people are flocking there to escape the city on weekends. And since local food products are growing in popularity right now, we decided to meet some of the farmers behind the actual growing of it.

The Cowgirls learned a lot last night at the Beer and Cheese class held inside the Leslieville Cheese Market. Our hosts, Julia Rogers and Sam Corbeil, put together some winter-themed samples for us to try all while explaining the various flavours and histories of each product. We’ll take you through what we learned, as well as our recommendations for your next trip to the grocery or LCBO.

La Bamboche is quietly nestled on Manor Rd E just north of Yonge & Davisville, and without pretension exudes French decadents at its finest. It’s a little tricky to find this petite patisserie, but once you do it becomes a secret haven for affordable Macarons, Pan Au Chocolate and Eclairs that would make even a French Mime scream with excitement.
