Our interview with Margot Grant, developer and marketer of The Socializer.
You know if Blake Lively swears by something, you better pay attention. And right now, that little something is The Socializer pen from Elizabeth Grant. This travel-sized eye renewal system is the perfect hangover cure for puffy, dark-ringed, sleepless eyes – just trust us, we partied hard enough to test its merit. Chatting with the product developer, 25 year old Torontonian Margot Grant, the Cowgirls wanted to know how she came up with the idea, and how exactly this little magic eraser works.
Pony: What’s different about The Socializer that we can’t find in the other eye creams on the market?
Margot: Its 24 hour around the clock eye treatment as opposed to just eye cover. I wanted the root of the problems under my eyes to go away, not just mask them. Also, the fact that it’s convenient and I can simply tuck these two pens into my smallest clutch or airplane carry-on. It’s nice on my wallet as well – two treatment pens for $40, you can’t really go wrong with that!
Pony: How often do you use it?
Margot: More often than I care to admit, but I can safely say I’m armed with The Socializer in every purse I am carrying. Test me on it, you’d really be surprised on how many early morning brunches it has helped my girlfriends out at.
Pony: What’s the difference between the Bright Lights pen and the Late Nights pen?
Margot: Late Nights is applied before you go to bed and Bright Lights is applied after you wake up. Bright Lights contains Mica, a mineral brightener that bounces light off the under eye area, brightening instantly. And Late Nights contains a heavier concentration of cooling and de-puffing ingredients to calm the under eye area while you sleep. But both products contain ingredients that diminish the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, wrinkles and tired eyes.
Pony: What made you come up with the idea for the product?
Margot: I was walking home one evening in Cannes during the 2008 Film Festival. It was 4am and I had to be back at work by nine. I usually went to sleep in Cannes with eye pads, but on one particular evening, let’s just say it wasn’t such a sexy idea to do so… and I thought there had to be something better, without the fuss of a long acting cream that took ages to work. I’m an out-the-door, last minute type of gal and I wanted immediate results, I didn’t want to look like I went to bed at 6am (even if I did) and I always wanted to be able to carry my secret beauty weapon in my bag without weighing it down.
Pony: Seeing as you’re always on the go, what essential makeup items do you keep with you at all times?
Margot: The Socializer, my Bvlgari perfume, my YSL bronzer with spf 15 in it, and a black eyeliner – a little spruce up can go a long way! You don’t need to lug your entire makeup bag with you, just a few pick-me-ups to keep you looking fresh (and when in doubt, a giant pair of shades).
Pony: Are there any makeup products on the market you would advise against buying?
Margot: Here’s my beauty advice, don’t just buy products because they have a high price tag! It’s my biggest pet peeve with us younger ladies because the wrong type of cream can be just as aging and an irritant, don’t be sold by a story alone. Try out the product, and don’t be scared to try a different line within the beauty house you like. And obviously, any product that’s been tested on animals is a big no-no in our minds here. Like I always say, a good skin care regime is as classic as any Chanel bag and good skin never goes out of style.

I’m not sure why but this weblog is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
