Last night at LG Fashion Week, the Cowgirls decided to experiment by bringing along two very straight men to help us decide which collections were sexy, and which were scary. After grabbing ourselves a Tetrapak from the bar (which we later discovered was not filled with Pinot Gris, but merely water) and a handful of pretzels, we made our way into the Pat McDonagh show.

Salem Makes a Statement.

Sitting in Starbucks waiting to interview fashion designer, Salem Moussallam, was kind of like going on a blind date – until he walked through the door. I knew right away that the good-looking, tanned model sporting a massive Louis Vuitton duffle, chic sunglasses, casual sweats and patent leather loafers was definitely the mystery man I’d been waiting for. And yet, his playful smile and double-cheek kiss made me feel like I’d known him for centuries. Not your average stuck-up, I-don’t-have-time-for-the-masses fashion designer, Salem wants to share his style with the world. His bold and beautiful looks have been seen on stars such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna, but surprisingly, his adventure all started with simply needing an outfit for the semi-formal.

Esteemed Canadian designer, Izzy Camilleri and fashion renaissance man, Adrian Mainella have teamed up to launch IZMA – the Canadian Wild Fur collection. Sitting in the third row Sunday night at the debut runway show, the Cowgirls took in all the beauty of what is sure to be the collection that set the bar this season.

Another Week Without a Day Job.
Comedian John Hastings takes us through an average, unemployed day.

In between sessions sitting under the bare light bulb in my apartment, listening to water drip from the faucet as angry letters to Stephen Harper are penned from my hand, I realized that working the night hours as a comedian was exposing me to a side of the city rarely seen. I’d been observing Toronto not when it slept, nor when it drank or tried to get laid. Rather, I was seeing the city when abandoned by the majority of its populace. In this time, the city is handed over to the bartenders, students, artists, waiters and unemployed who are free to roam about during the day. Follow me down the rabbit-hole friends, as we explore the Toronto that exists while most of you are working.
