Take your living room wall beyond the flat paint job. You’re an artist now!

Break through the creativity-wall and explore a world beyond movie posters and bumper stickers. Wall decals and tattoos are a cheap and unique way to help decorate your room. By choosing various colours and arrangements you can create wall art that will have your friends amazed at your talent and hopelessly jealous that they didn’t think of it first. Unlike body tattoos, these things can be removed simply by peeling them off – so no worries about whether you’ll still love them in a years time.
The example below was ordered from Surface Collective, a small company in Vancouver. It was chosen from the kid’s section (“toy soldier”) and then massively enlarged as a special order; the final cost being less than $50. It was easy to put up, even on this older, plastered wall.

If you get comfy with the decals, you can raise the level of artwork by capturing it within a vintage gilt frame (as shown). This was ordered from Walljuice, a site that offers lots of possibilities with words and images in a variety of colours. You can write a poem and then put it up on the wall, around the ceiling or along the baseboard.
Lastly, a company in Texas called Big Show Offs offers the ultimate in possibilities for creative types. They will blow up any digital photo to a wall size decal. Your friends on your wall: life size! (O.K., you don’t love them that much but how about taking a photo of your window and then putting it up next to the real window? Put a chair on the wall over your bed. You get the gist of it.) Decals add to your décor. Period.
