We’re not going to sit here and tell you about particular vintage items in each store that we liked. Because you know us better than that – and you know that we’ve already bought those one-of-a-kind items for ourselves. But what we will do is tell you generally what each vintage store had and what their prices were like in comparison.

Let’s start with Kensington market:

Exile ($$**)
20 and 60 KensingtonAve.  416 596 0827

If you’re looking for a Halloween costume, this is your place. Everything from old cheerleader costumes, to huge 80s dresses, to massive fur coats. They’ve got wigs, masks, hats, boots, you name it. Their prices are reasonable – but for everyday wear you’d have to be one confident pony.

Bungalow ($$**)
273 Augusta Ave. 416 598 0204

With a great layout, and all items perfectly colour coordinated, this store makes it a lot easier to find a specific item. Looking for a plaid shirt? Head to the plaid shirt rack – it’s that easy. These clothes are more suitable for everyday wear rather than your statement pieces.

Model Citizen ($***)
279 Augusta Ave. 416 553 6632

Here you’ll find a mixture of both new and old pieces. It’s a great place if you’re shopping with friends because there’s a wide selection for both guys and girls here.

Courage My Love. ($***)
14 Kensington St.

This place is fantastic. The prices are low, and the quality is high. With cashmere sweaters at $30, and Norma Kamalo dresses at only $20, you’ll be in vintage heaven. There are lots of interesting hats here, delicate lingerie, and leather sole boots. Plus, you’ll find plenty of guy’s stuff too. This store has it all.

Flashback ($***)
25 Kensington St.

Men, you may want to stay at home for this one, because here is where you’ll find lots of babydoll dresses, prom dresses, evening dresses…. lots of dresses! There’s a good selection here with reasonable prices; it’s definitely worth a visit.

Now that we’ve gotten our Kensington kicks, let’s hop in our carriages and make our way over to Ossington St. They’ve got some wicked vintage stores that haven’t been explored yet.

That’s weird — when Model Citizen was on Dundas St. W. and Bellwoods, it was totes expensive; same with Bungalow — I remember going in there and not being able to afford anything. Maybe times have changed. Still, I’m always faithful to Courage My Love! You can shop for lingerie AND make your own beaded necklace at once. HIPPIE BLISS!

    Model Citizen’s my best friend.
